Top yacht manufacturers at Boat Show

27 March 2012

This year’s Barclays Jersey Boat Show promises to be bigger and better than ever before, with more boats for visitors to view than in previous years.

There will be at least 60 visiting boats on display in St Helier Marina, many of which will be open to the public to view – the highest number in attendance at the Jersey Boat Show to date.  Among those who have confirmed attendance are premium yacht manufacturers, Sunseeker, Fairline, Princess and Sealine, considered by experts to be the 4 top international boating brands.  And with only a handful of exhibitor pitches remaining, time is running out for traders to reserve their places.

Already confirmed for the 3 day event, which offers free entry, are over 45 on-land exhibitors as well many more on-water. Coupled with more than a dozen caterers and at least 60 boats on display, this year’s show promises to be ‘the best one yet’, according to Group Commercial Director for Ports of Jersey, Myra Shacklady. She says, ‘I am delighted with the commitment shown by these top 4 boating manufacturers, which is a real coup for the Jersey Boat Show and reflects how seriously the event is now considered among the marine leisure industry. Not only are we boasting the best in quality, we are also boasting the largest number of craft, from small motor boats and sailing yachts to a 26-metre Sunseeker’.

Sponsor, Barclays, is proud to be associated with such a successful community and tourism event.  ‘Building on the success of last year’s show, this year sees the event go from strength to strength, with a fascinating array of boats and landside exhibitors already committed.  With only a few weeks to go, the excitement is really starting to build,’ said Richard Corrigan, director, Barclays.

The  Jersey Boat Show opens on Saturday 5 May and will run for 3 days, closing on the evening of Monday 7 May, giving Islanders and visitors the opportunity to dip their toes in all things nautical.  Now in its fifth year, the award-winning  Jersey Boat Show combines a family event with a maritime festival atmosphere. It features a fisherman’s village, outdoor and active arena, live music, action packed demonstrations and opportunities to ‘have a go’ at activities for adults and children alike. In addition, the show boasts stalls from a variety of local and visiting traders and, as you’d expect, a plethora of boats, many of which will be open to the public, as well as a mix of aspirational and practical powerboats and sailing yachts to buy or simply admire.

For those who prefer to keep their feet dry and lap up the festival atmosphere, live stage entertainment as well as tasty local food and drink will also be available along the quayside.

Updates about latest features and events will be posted on the Jersey Boat Show website.
