Evening Bus Service Extended to Cover Tennerfest

09 October 2008

Good news for those who want to enjoy a Tennerfest meal but don’t have a car or want to leave the car at home.

Transport and Technical Services (TTS) has announced that the circular evening bus services, which have operated on Friday and Saturdays since 18 July this year, have been extended until 8 November to cover the Tennerfest event. The service, called Route 10, was going to finish this weekend along with the Island Explorer services, but TTS has agreed that Connex will operate the service for a further 4 weekends to cover the Tennerfest initiative.

Deputy Guy de Faye, the Minister for Transport and Technical Services, said “The bus service is there to support the needs of the public and we are trying to encourage more people to see bus travel as a real alternative to car use. This evening service will prove very useful to diners looking to support Tennerfest. The Route 10 goes right around the Island, with buses in both directions, taking in a number of very popular pubs and restaurants."

The extension period will allow comparisons to be made with holiday season passenger figures. So far passenger numbers have averaged around 170 travellers per weekend.

The timetable for the service can be found on the Connex website.
