Jersey represented at EU Code of Conduct in Brussels

24 September 2010

Jersey represented itself at the EU Code of Conduct in Brussels yesterday.

Advisor to the States on International Affairs Colin Powell attended with Director of International Taxation Wendy Martin.

Mr Powell said “Jersey was delighted to be able to represent itself at the meeting of the EU Code of Conduct. This is the first time the code group has received representatives from non-EU representatives.

"The purpose of yesterday's meeting was to give the member states an opportunity to ask technical questions, to ensure they understand our 0 / 10 regime and the relevance for the code of our personal tax anti-avoidance rules - the deemed distribution and attribution rules.”

Questions were limited to details of the deemed distribution and attribution rules.

Mr Powell added “The code group thanked us for our helpful contribution and will be addressing whether the deemed distribution and attribution rules require further consideration at the next meeting in November.”
