Jersey Marinas retains 5 Gold Anchors status

08 February 2012

The Gold Anchor Award Scheme, established 23 years ago, recognises the facilities and services provided to boat owners and has become a measure of excellence when looking for a visiting or permanent berth.

Commending the Island for its natural beauty, the report praises the 3 marinas and the variety of berthing options available. It states "They offer an excellent first impression, are kept clean and tidy with a strong attention to customer care.

"Berth holders can choose from a range of options from the 3 marinas, Elizabeth, St Helier and La Collette, and are backed up with an impressive range of services, including complimentary Wi-Fi, a dedicated website, refuse disposal and car parking."

The Gold Anchor Award Scheme ratings can vary from 1 to 5 gold anchors and involve a three stage process; an independent assessment, a ‘Mystery Shopper’ visit and a berth holder’s online questionnaire. These findings all contribute to the final Gold Anchor rating.

The General Manager for The Yacht Harbour Association, Gareth Turnbull, says "It is encouraging to see Jersey Marinas operate to a very high standard and that they are currently investing in future developments and resources."

Jersey Marinas is delighted to have retained this status. The Group Commercial Director for Ports of Jersey, Myra Shacklady, said "The Gold Anchor Scheme is an internationally recognised sign of quality and to maintain this high standard is testament to the professionalism and dedication of our marinas and support staff who strive to ensure the services we provide exceed all expectations."

Jersey Marinas joined the voluntary scheme 12 years ago and have held ‘5 Gold Anchors’ status since 2005.
