The Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Sir Philip Bailhache, will represent Jersey at the Liberal Democrats conference in Brighton between 23 and 25 September 2012. The conference will be attended by delegates from within the Liberal Democrats as well as those representing charities, the private sector, political organisations and other jurisdictions, including Guernsey.
This will be the second consecutive year that Jersey has attended UK party conferences, signifying the Island’s continued commitment to enhancing political engagement with the UK. The Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, will attend the Labour Party conference on 1 and 2 October 2012 in Manchester. The Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Paul Routier, and the Treasury Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf, will attend the Conservative Party conference between 7 and 9 October 2012 in Birmingham.
Senator Bailhache commented: “This will be the first party conference that I have attended and I look forward to using the opportunity to engage with prominent UK politicians on issues that affect both our governments. The UK is our most significant economic partner and it is therefore important that Jersey maintains an open dialogue with the coalition parties.”
