School bus service starts

04 September 2012

The school bus service starts again from Wednesday 5 September for the start of the school term.

Services are unchanged from last year apart from four services in Trinity which will serve the Les Platons area as well as the existing route along Route d’Ebenezer:

  • 53 (for Grainville School)
  • 780, 957 and 997 (for Victoria College, JCG, Hautlieu, De La Salle, Beaulieu and FCJ)

The first few weeks can be difficult, as exact demand for the services is not known. The Director of Transport for Transport and Technical Services, Tristen Dodd, said "I’d like to ask all parents, guardians and the students who are intending to use the school buses to please be patient over the first few weeks. It is impossible for Transport and Technical Services to predict demand on any service and we cannot guarantee that occasional overloading or scheduling problems will not occur. Both Transport and Technical Services and Connex will work together to iron out any issues as quickly as we can.”

Students, parents and guardians are advised to check the timetables carefully, and it is recommended that passengers arrive at bus stops at least five minutes before the published time. Timetables are available online and from school offices, with advice sheets if required.

During the 2011-2012 academic year, in excess of 340,000 journeys were made across the school bus network, averaging over 1,800 trips per day.
