Congratulations sent to Palace on birth of royal baby

The Chief Minister's statement on the birth of a son to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge:

"The government of Jersey is very pleased to congratulate  the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their first child. We wish them every happiness and hope we can look forward to welcoming them to Jersey in the future.

"Given our special relationship with the Crown, I am sure islanders are especially pleased to celebrate the birth of the young prince."

Marking the birth in Jersey

The Bailiff has asked that flags be flown today to mark the birth.

The Treasury is presenting a specially-framed £100 note to every baby born in Jersey on the same day as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first child.

Fort Regent's lights will turn Royal Blue for a week.
