Applications open for Tourism Development Fund

09 September 2014

Events and projects that have the potential to boost Jersey's tourist industry are being invited to apply for States financial support.

The Tourism Development Fund (TDF) is inviting applications from both private and public organisations for projects that will benefit Jersey's tourism industry. The independent TDF panel considers applications using criteria which include whether:

  • the event or project has the potential to bring more visitors to the Island, particularly in the shoulder months
  • the project will attract additional funding from other sources
  • jobs will created in Jersey
  • it will be sustainable in the future

The TDF panel's chairman, Peter Funk, said “Tourism is vital to our economy and the role of the Tourism Development Fund is to support the industry. The TDF Panel is delighted that we are able to consider applications from private as well as non-profit organisations or individuals with good ideas that will bring more visitors to Jersey and improve our already rich tourism offering. We look forward to receiving some exciting proposals.”

Fund deadline

Since it was established by the States in 2004, the fund has made more than 120 grants, totalling more than £5.6 million. They have all encouraged and supported tourism through a wide range of events, infrastructure developments, and other projects.

The fund opens for applications twice a year. The autumn 2014 deadline is 5pm on Friday 17 October, and the TDF panel will evaluate the applications by the end of November.

Organisations considering applying can get more information on the Jersey Tourism website or by contacting Cedric Bird in the Economic Development Department by email or on +44 (0)1534 440675
