Cost for employers

A typical apprentice salary is recommended between £27,000 to £33,000 depending on previous experience and knowledge. Final salary and benefits package is at the discretion of the company and will vary. Benefits package should include annual leave entitlement and study leave and may incorporate travel costs associated with residential learning.

Currently, there are no Government of Jersey grants to cover the costs of apprentices to local businesses, but funding is available for first time students to help them cover their tuition fees.

How the digital apprentice scheme works

Degree apprentices are employed by you but study with the University of Exeter for a BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions degree over 4 years.

Apprentices are required to spend 20% of their contracted working time studying on the course. The University runs a blended flexible learning format which combines a mix of on campus learning (block release for a week in September, January and May) and online resources, to minimise disruption in the work place.
