Optimising early childhood education and childcare
In 2023, the Government of Jersey commissioned the ISOS Partnership to collect evidence of best practice in early childhood education. This evidence is being used to shape future policy.
The report focused on the big picture questions. These relate to the why, what, when, where, who, and how of early childhood education and care in Jersey.

This report builds on the
previous work of the Early
Years Policy Development Board.
Early years roundtables
Following the ISOS report, this Government met with a range of stakeholders about future policy in Jersey.
2 roundtable meetings which took place on 15 and 16 November, included representatives from:
- parents and carers
- early education and childcare sector
- employers
- public health
- charities who support to parents and families
- Government of Jersey officers
2 further roundtable events took place in January 2024.
The findings of this report will be used to shape future early years policy work.

Early Childhood Education and Care survey 2023
This report provides information on childcare and early years provision in Jersey.
This is the first time a survey of this nature has been administered in Jersey and results reflect a 'baseline' for the Island.
In addition, this report provides a picture of the workforce and identifies the key challenges facing the childcare sector over the short to medium term.
This survey will be repeated in December 2024.
