About the consultation
Jersey has a well-regulated financial services industry, and many companies providing pension related products and services are regulated by the Jersey Financial Services Commission. However, pension business is not currently addressed with specific regulation. This consultation proposes a regulatory framework for pension business operating in Jersey.
Government is also considering the role of pensions in helping islanders ensure that they can gain financial independence in later life. This will be assessed throughout 2020 in consultation with islanders and the pension industry. Regulation will help ensure that the pension industry is well run and focussed on the best outcomes for members, which supports the objective of helping people achieve financial independence in later life.
This paper follows a consultation that received feedback earlier this year. It outlines the feedback received and seeks further comment on the most appropriate regulatory framework for pension business in Jersey.
