About the consultation
The draft Island Plan will set out the framework that will be used to direct the development and protection of the Island over the next 10 years. The green paper generated a very healthy debate from Islanders about these issues and their views have directly shaped the content and direction of the Draft Island Plan.
The Plan contains both strategic and detailed planning policies.

Responses to the consultation
Over 200 people took the opportunity to comment on the draft plan, generating over 1,100 separate comments on many different aspects of the draft plan.
The inspectors' report into the draft Island Plan has also been published. The report includes a number of recommendations to the Planning and Environment Minister, Senator Freddie Cohen.
The Planning and Environment Minister has considered all of the comments made and has expressed an intention to change some parts of the draft plan.
