About the consultation
This survey is part of an independent review of the way in which sport is delivered in Jersey.
The review's terms of reference are:
- review how the government’s sport and physical activity strategy and policy are formulated and implemented
- review if the existing arms-length partner’s structure, organisation, management and delivery remains appropriate, relevant and fit for purpose to meet the Council of Minister’s Common Strategic Policy and ministerial priorities of the Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture (MEDTSC)
- produce a report on the review findings, including recommendations
The review is important to understand what changes, if any, we need to make in order to achieve value for money and to be able to deliver sport in the most effective way for Islanders.
The Inspiring an Active Jersey Strategy was published in 2020 with the mission to increase the number of physically active islanders by 10% by 2030. The consultation seeks views on the Inspiring an Active Jersey Strategy, Jersey Sport and the Government of Jersey. Your responses will help to inform the final review report.
Independent review
It's important that the reviewer is completely independent from Jersey’s current sporting community so an external consultant, Simon Cooper, has been appointed.
Simon was formerly Head of Sport for the Mayor of London between 2008 and 2019 and has previously worked for the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in roles that included working for the UK Minister for Sport and managing DCMS's relationship with Sport England. He also worked in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit.
