About the consultation
The Parish of St Mary has asked Transport and Technical Services to look into slowing down vehicles passing through the St Mary village area, especially La Rue des Buttes around the garage.
At the end of February, the department proposes to install two trial road narrowings - each five metres long - 50 metres either side of the garage. In those sections there will only be room for one vehicle at a time to pass.
Bolt-down plastic kerbs, held in place with concrete, will be used to narrow the roads. Road signs and yellow lines will be provided to ensure that drivers are clear who has right of way.
Gaps will be left between the temporary kerbs and roadside walls so that pedestrians are able to pass.
Should the road narrowings not be a success, the kerbs can be easily removed and the signage and poles re-used elsewhere.
We would like to hear from you if you have any comments about this proposal.
