About the consultation
The Financial Services Ombudsman (Jersey) Law 2014 (the "Law") was registered in the Royal Court on 25 July 2014, establishing the Office of the Financial Services Ombudsman (OFSO).
The requirements on referral and handling of complaints will come into force at a later date.
The Law sets a very wide potential scope for the types of financial services about which complaints can be brought to the OFSO.
The Minister must narrow this scope by order.
An early consultation has already been performed by the Minister for Economic Development on a draft Financial Services Ombudsman (Exempt Business) (Jersey) Order 201-.
This formal consultation, as required by the law, is to be a short, refreshing exercise as the issues have already been considered and the draft order is materially unchanged.
