Working during hot weather

​​​While there is no maximum temperature in law at which it is too hot to work, employers must improve thermal comfort where possible.

An acceptable working environment is dependent on a number of variable factors including:

  • air temperature and humidity
  • air movement
  • nature of the work

Consideration should include:

  • encouraging employees to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration
  • evaluating dress code, including type of PPE worn
  • consider altering working hours to start and finish earlier
