While there is no maximum temperature in law at which it is too hot to work, employers must improve thermal comfort where possible.
An acceptable working environment is dependent on a number of variable factors including:
- air temperature and humidity
- air movement
- nature of the work
Consideration should include:
- encouraging employees to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration
- evaluating dress code, including type of PPE worn
- consider altering working hours to start and finish earlier
