What will the change of name and address update?
The one-stop service will update parish records including:
- ratepayer details
- driving licence
- electoral roll
- dog licence
- firearm certificate
Why we need the change your name and / or address
You have a duty, in law, to inform the parish of a change of address or name so that your records can be updated, your new driving licence can be issued and further checks can be carried out depending on your circumstances.
Benefits of the change your name and / or address service
A paper based service has been available for many years. The online service offers convenience for an increasing number of you who prefer to manage your affairs online. The step by step online process is easier to complete than the paper form and office procedures have been streamlined to increase efficiency and improve control over updating records.
Challenges we faced
A great deal of effort has been focussed on the design to make sure that it is as easy to use as possible. A big challenge for us was confirming the identity of the person completing the form. You are able to confirm you're identity by:
- answering security questions
- providing evidence in person
- taking a selfie (possibly the first public sector selfie identity check worldwide)
These options have provided valuable insights into your preferences that will help us to design services that suit your needs in the future.
What’s next?
This service will be expanded to include both States of Jersey and Parish change of address later this year.
We'll continue to review the delivery of all parish services to make sure they're cost effective, convenient and easy to use.
