Parish Hall enquiries (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 10 April 2017.

Request

If you are sent to Parish Hall by the police do they have to show you evidence?

Response

A Parish Hall enquiry is not a court case and is not subject to the same prior disclosure of evidence. The Centenier will discuss the evidence with you at the enquiry. If you do not agree with the evidence and decline to admit the allegation, the Centenier cannot deal with the matter. The matter may then progress to the Magistrate’s Court, where full disclosure will be provided.
