RTCs at junction of La Grande Route De St Martin and Rue Des Pigneaux (FOI)

Request

Please can you tell me how many road traffic accidents there have been at the junction of La Grande Route De St Martin, Rue Des Pigneaux and Fosse a L'Ecrivain in the last 10 years and advise whether the frequency of accidents is sufficient to class this junction as an accident blackspot.

Response

The total number of road traffic collisions (RTCs) at this junction reported to the States of Jersey Police over the last 10 years is ten. Of these, three (one in each of the years 2008, 2012 and 2015) resulted in injury.

No numerical definition is used to determine whether the junction is an “accident blackspot”. Instead, the term “collision cluster” is currently defined as an area where five or more injury RTCs have occurred within 25 metres within the last five years. Thus this junction would not fall into the definition of a “collision cluster”.
