Please state how many Data Protection Officers are currently employed by the States of Jersey. Please state the relevant qualification(s) of each employee.
For clarity I am asking you to provide the number of Data Protection Officers as defined under Part 5 of the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018; and the number of other staff who may be involved in data protection matters, who may also have the job title of data protection officer.
Response
Article 88 (2) of the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 (the DP Law) states that Part 5 of the DP Law comes into force on 25 November 2018. Part 5 of the DP Law contains the articles that dictate the requirement to appoint a Data Protection Officer and the necessary qualifications of the post holder. The States of Jersey has not appointed a Data Protection Officer as defined under Part 5 of the DP Law at this time.
The States of Jersey currently has 24 members of staff who have Data Protection responsibilities as part of their daily activities.
