Sexual Offences legislation (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 18 December 2018.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

I have been studying the various Sex Offenses laws, but can't see where protection is given for vulnerable adults (for instance someone on the autistic spectrum who needs full time carers because of the severity of their condition, or someone with a curatorship for similar reasons) in the law. These are not people necessarily certified under the Mental Health law, but individuals who do not have sufficient capacity to function unaided.

In particular;

A

What parts of the law protect them from abuse by a sex offender?

B

Are there any legal guidelines restricting access to such individuals by someone on the Sex Offenders register?

Response

This appears to be a request for legal advice rather than a request for information held. These particular questions are to do with interpretation of the law. The laws in question are accessible to the public.

A

Please refer to:

B

As per this request, no documented legal guidelines are held.
