Request
I would like to know what the Government of Jersey is now going to do with Cyril Le Marquand House, now that it is empty.
Response
The building and site will be disposed of to realise the greatest benefit to the Public of the Island of Jersey.
Cyril Le Marquand house has reached the end of its near forty year life, the lifts and mechanical and electrical systems are now obsolete, the façade is no longer watertight and it is configured in an inefficient layout. The cost of the fundamental refurbishment required to bring it to modern office standards would take such a long time to recover by rental collection that the building has little value as it is currently configured. Notwithstanding this, there is an intrinsic value in the site providing an excellent opportunity for development.
