Request

A

Is it the current policy of the States of Jersey Employment Board to offer severance pay / golden handshakes on the termination of employment to employees including senior managers?

B

And, if so are there different levels according to seniority and what are those terms?

C

Also, if the policy has been changed when did the change take place and how many States employees have contracts under the old / new regime?

Response

A

The policy is that in the event an employee’s contract is terminated early (not for disciplinary reasons), the employer will follow all statutory, policy and contractual obligations that apply. There is no difference in the application of that policy to any employee.

B

No, there are no different levels according to seniority.

C

It is a well-established policy of many years standing.
