Request

I would like to know how many children, classed as residents of Jersey, are registered as being educated off island.

I would like this information broken down by school year (7 to 13) as a total and, if possible, separately by gender.

I would like this information for the previous three years.

These figures represent pupils that are under the care of the Government of Jersey. We are unable to provide figures for any pupils attending Boarding Schools in the UK or elsewhere. If a parent chooses off-island education then the child is not part of the Government of Jersey education system.

Due to the small number of pupils, we are unable to break this down by year group, therefore Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied to this request.

Article applied

Article 25 Personal information

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if –

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018; and

(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.
