I would like to know
A
The number of teachers in Jersey at each increment of the teachers’ pay scale (including the upper pay spine).
B
The number of teachers who have each Supplementary Allowance Point.
C
The number of teachers earning each amount in bands of £10,000 in total gross pay. This should comprise of main pay plus supplementary allowance.)
D
The methodology for collecting the information in this infographic and how the figures displayed were arrived at.
E
The methodology for finding the average pay quoted in this article on gov.je as £56,000.
“This means that from 1 January 2020 the total full-time equivalent salary received by teachers will be between a minimum of £33,692 and a maximum of £72,868 (average = £56,757)”. See link below:
Update on pay negotiations with teachers
Is this a mean average? Is it weighted by the number of people who earn each pay grade? Was it compiled by Statistics Jersey or another body? Does it include Head Teachers and Deputy Heads?

The figures were taken from the most up to date headcount report when the infographic was completed which was the March 2019 Headcount. This information contained individuals pay and what supplements they are in receipt of. To get the estimated 2020 salary, every individual was assumed to receive their increment and also receive the current pay award offered of RPI + 1.3% for 2020.

The average pay quoted in the article was calculated looking at every individuals assumed salary for 2020 and calculating the mean salary of all these individuals. The information was compiled by the Reward and Employee Relations team. This does not include Head Teachers or Deputy Heads.
