Request
A
I like to know if Customer and Local Services have any avenues to obtain customers personal details from third party sources, eg obtaining an address by contacting a utility company.
B
If so, please provide details of how and when this would be used, what policies or laws govern this, including any qualifying criteria that would obligate a third party to comply, regardless of the customer having given consent.
Response
A
Customer and Local Services are able to request information using Article 45 “Crime and taxation” and Article 64 “Permitted processing for law enforcement, legal proceedings and public record purposes” of the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018. These avenues are not specific to Customer and Local Services.
B
Customer and Local Services would use these avenues only after receiving intelligence or concerns from our staff, the public or another organisation.
These requests may be sent by post or email. The receiver of a request is able to choose not to provide the requested information and this is always clearly stated in the request.
