A
Prisoner at la Moye?
B
Hospital patient?
C
Government run residential care homes ie Rosewood House etc.
D
Parish run residential homes.
Response
A
HMP La Moye - the cost of meals per prisoner per day for 2018 is £4.78.
B and C
The Health and Community Services catering department does not have an identified budgeted cost per patient per meal per day, as requested.
The General Hospital has had a budget for provisions for meal preparation of £236,500 in each of the years 2017 to 2019. The differing needs and dietary requirements on the more specialist wards would not allow an accurate assessment of average costs per patient by dividing the expenditure by the number of inpatient stays to give a true comparison to the costings for prisoners and care home residents.
The typical cost of feeding an inpatient is £4.49, based on taking an average cost of the three most popular meal choices for each of the breakfast, lunch and dinner servings.
Please note that these costs are based on the cost of the provisions only and not the labour and overheads associate with running the kitchens.
