Based on the services within the structure of the newly-formed Mental Health Care Group configuration within Health and Community Services, the following has been spent over the last five years (this does not include Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, long-stay Mental Health wards, and any services which sit outside of Health and Community Services (eg at the prison)):
2014: £11.14m
2015: £11.65m
2016: £15.50m
2017: £18.04m
2018: £19.07m
As at the end of 2017, there were 740 individuals registered by primary care as having a mental health condition. Dividing the above expenditure figures by 740 gives the following figure spent per person per year.

Note that for the value of all prescriptions issued by mental health clinicians, this would include those items for both mental and physical health.
The Table below shows the cost of medicines prescribed by primary care practitioners such as GPs and dispensed by community pharmacy where the cost is met by the Health Insurance Fund. Not all of these prescriptions will be for the treatment of Mental Health as some antidepressants are used in the treatment of conditions other than depression, for example in the treatment of chronic nerve pain. Information regarding the diagnosis associated with these prescriptions is not held.
