Request
I would like to know what Codes of Conduct there are, if any, when there is a situation of a Jersey Politician making a complete fool of themselves online thereby putting the States of Jersey into disrepute?
Response
The Code of Conduct for elected members of the States appears as Schedule 3 to the Standing Orders of the States of Jersey, available at the following link:
Standing Orders of the States of Jersey
Paragraph 1 of the Code of Conduct states that “all elected members are required, in accordance with standing orders, to comply with this code.”
In addition to the Code of Conduct for Elected Members, all Ministers and Assistant Ministers must also comply with the Codes of Conduct and Practice for Ministers and Assistant Ministers, available at the following link:
Codes of conduct and practice for Ministers and Assistant Ministers
