Request
Gibraltar House became vacant after the death of the tenant and I understand from the property services department it has been transferred to Andium homes. This was part of the Crown Estates and I understood all sales of properties had to be passed through the States as per the land at St Catherine’s.
Please advise when this was agreed by the States and what value was paid by Andium Homes as the property has I am not aware of it being advertised publicly. Please advise when or if a formal valuation has been obtained.
Response
Transfers of publicly owned properties to Andium are made by the States passing a law to that effect rather than by contract. Gibraltar was transferred to Andium by the Social Housing (Transfer) (Jersey) Regulations 2014 made under the Social Housing (Transfer) (Jersey) Law 2013 – Gibraltar is listed in the Regulations with details under Part 149 of Schedule 1 – Immovable Property Transferred on Transfer Date.
The regulations are published at the following link [Note large file – 12.4MB] :
Social Housing (Transfer) (Jersey) Regulations 2014
The Regulations were debated by the States on 4 June 2014 as P.58/2014 and details of the debates and votes are on the States Assembly website at the following link:
Additional information for P.58/2014
The Regulations came into force, and thus the transfer to Andium occurred, when the Social Housing (Transfer) (Jersey) Law 2013 commenced which was on 1 July 2014.
