Request
A
What are the arrangements with the Taxi firm used to transport patients to and from the airport or accommodation to Southampton Hospital?
B
What is the payment arrangement in relation to extra family members supporting a patient, ie sharing cost to reduce cost to health?
Response
A
The taxi firm waits in the pickup area at the airport carpark. If the patient is a day return patient the taxi firm will advise what time (depending on the patients return flight) the return taxi will be and where at the hospital they will be collected.
If the patient has to go to accommodation first, the taxi firm will drop the patient directly at the accommodation.
Depending on the time of the return flight and the last appointment for the patient at the hospital, the taxi firm will be instructed by the hospital or accommodation staff as to what time and where the patient requires collection from to get back to the airport.
If the appointments are outside of the Daisy bus service area, Southampton Hospital will call and book a taxi to take from accommodation to hospital or vice versa. If the patient calls themselves, the taxi firm will request confirmation from Jersey Travel office during working hours.
B
The cost of the taxi covers two people ie patient and companion under one price. If there is more than one family member going, the additional cost will be requested direct from the Taxi driver. Patients are informed of this.
