Request
Please confirm how many Police officers are currently working family friendly hours due to health, family or contractual issues?
Response
During the current Covid-19 pandemic, both police officer and police staff numbers are affected by the need to protect those with underlying medical conditions and help those with children and family members who require extra care.
As a result, a number of officers and police staff are working from home. Police officer hours are constantly under review to ensure maximum efficiency and continued delivery of service to the public.
Actual numbers will not be released as to do so may compromise the prevention and detection of crime in Jersey.
Whilst the public may be interested in the actual numbers, it is not in the public interest for those who would wish to profit from the situation by criminal deeds, by taking advantage of reduced officer numbers in certain areas of police activity.
The request is declined.
Should the information be required for court or industrial tribunal purposes, a court order should be obtained.
