Request

How many people have been blocked from the Government of Jersey Facebook page and for what reason for the period 1 April 2020 to 15 May 2020.

No names please just numbers and reasons

Response

Between 1 April 2020 and 15 May 2020, 26 accounts have been blocked from commenting on the Government of Jersey Facebook page. The reasons for this are:

  • using foul language repeatedly during live broadcasts, in direct messages or when commenting on posts

  • repeatedly insulting or threatening the Chief Minister, other Ministers or Government employees, during live broadcasts, in direct messages or when commenting on posts

  • abusive accounts that are threatening or insulting towards other Facebook users on the page

  • spam or Fake accounts

Blocked accounts can still see all the information on the Government of Jersey Facebook page and can share as they wish, but they no longer have the option to post comments or direct message the page.
