Request

A

As Coronavirus / Covid-19 spread from China, which Government official or group of Government officials or Government body or Non-Governmental body took the decision to keep Jersey's Airport and Harbour open to arriving travellers?

The failure to insist on basic health checks or indeed compulsory and supervised isolation for all arrivals in Jersey allowed the pandemic virus to enter the Island.

B

Who or which body was responsible and who remains accountable for allowing the virus into Jersey, creating the current ongoing catastrophe that has required weeks of Lockdown and has undermined the local economy at a cost of £100s of Millions?

Response

A

The responsibility for Government decision-making in relation to our ports rests with the Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture, and the Council of Minsters as a whole, with the Council of Ministers considering significant matters in relation to the coronavirus response.
