What government funding is available each year for fee-paying “private” schools like FCJ, Beaulieu and De La Salle, both at a Primary and Secondary level?

How is this funding allocated within the school?

Do they have a requirement to inform the Government how they utilise these funds and is this information available to the public?

The Government of Jersey maintained schools are allocated funding using a formula. The private schools are allocated a proportion of the amount calculated. The primary schools Beaulieu, De La Salle and FCJ are funded at 22% of the amount the formula calculates. The secondary schools Beaulieu and De La Salle are funded at 47% of the amount the formula calculates.

The amount given to schools is a grant to support the operation of the schools in delivering the Jersey Curriculum to its students. It is up to the individual schools to decide how the money is distributed. The private schools that receive a grant are required to provide their audited accounts each year.

Article 23 Information accessible to applicant by other means

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it is reasonably available to the applicant, otherwise than under this Law, whether or not free of charge.

(2) A scheduled public authority that refuses an application for information on this ground must make reasonable efforts to inform the applicant where the applicant may obtain the information.
