How many offences have been recorded by the States of Jersey Police for the cultivation of cannabis in 2018, 2019 and the first 6 months of 2020?
Response
There have been 12 offences recorded in the period requested. Some are still under investigation.
The Misuse of Drugs (Jersey) Law 1978:
Article 5 Restrictions on production and supply of controlled drugs
Subject to the provisions of any Order for the time being in force under Article 12, it is an offence for a person –
(a) to produce or be concerned in the production of a controlled drug;
(b) to supply or offer to supply a controlled drug to any person; or
(c) to be concerned in the supplying of, or in the making of an offer to supply, a controlled drug to any person.Article 6 Manufacture and supply of scheduled substances
(1) It is an offence for a person –
(a) to manufacture a scheduled substance; or
(b) to supply such a substance to another person,
knowing or suspecting that the substance is to be used in or for the unlawful production of a controlled drug.
(2) In this Article “unlawful production of a controlled drug” means the production of such a drug which is unlawful by virtue of Article 5(a).
