Request
How many deaths have there been from alcohol poisoning (overdose) in Jersey, by year, going back as far as records allow please?
Response
You can find a list below of the annual number of deaths from 1995 to 2014 where alcohol poisoning or alcohol intoxication (including in combination with other drugs) is referred to as the primary or underlying cause of death.
Deaths due to chronic alcohol consumption were not included.
These figures were cross matched between those held by the Viscount’s Department on the register of deaths database (an electronic statutory record of deaths notified to the Viscount since July 1995) and those held on the Deaths Database held by the Health Intelligence Unit for statistical reporting purposes.
It is Health Intelligence Unit policy not to disclose numbers less than five to prevent identification of individuals.
