Request
A.
Please advise how much rank taxi drivers pay for the exclusive use of all taxi ranks including the Weighbridge, Snow Hill and Library Place.
B.
Please also advise how many years they have paid for and how much. All ranks are using public land.
Response
A.
The States of Jersey do not charge fees for access to taxi ranks.
The only States of Jersey fees incurred by taxi cab drivers are the charges for their Public Service Vehicle (PSV) driver badge, which attests they are qualified and fit to operate a taxi cab, and in the case of ‘owner drivers’ their PSV vehicle plate, which attests that their vehicle has passed its annual safety inspection and is fit for use.
These fees are set out in the Motor Traffic Order 2008 and purely represent the cost of administering those regulatory requirements by the States.
