A
No, this interim position was created to provide additional senior policy expertise and resource within Public Health. This is part of the department of Strategic Policy, Planning and Performance, with a particular emphasis on the Island’s Covid-19 emergency response.

The need for the temporary additional resource was identified by the Director General of the department of Strategic Policy, Planning and Performance. This was approved by the States Employment Board.

A specialist Interim executive search firm were engaged to identify suitably experienced (on and off island) candidates for the position. They were engaged on the 3 August 2020 and the role was advertised across a number of social media platforms for a period of seven days.

Cynthia Folarin has been appointed as Interim Director of Public Health Practice whilst a permanent recruitment process (overseen by the Jersey Appointments Commission) is completed.
Ms Folarin is a public health consultant with over 30 years’ experience across statutory, voluntary and community sectors. She has a track record in developing and implementing public health programmes at a national, regional and local level.
She is RN; RM; DPSN; MPH and Cert Ed qualified.
