How many accidents have there been on the cycle track along St Aubin's Bay in the last five years involving.

  • electric scooters or other types of electric powered vehicles

Response

In the last five years, the States of Jersey Police have recorded 17 incidents relating to injury collisions involving vehicles, on the cycle path between St Helier and St Brelade. All involved pedal cycles. None involved electric scooters although one involved a child’s scooter (No injury to the child) and one a mobility scooter. In each other case one or more cyclist’s went to hospital.

In one case, the cycle was recorded as an electric cycle although no distinction was made in any other report.

There have been no reports of incidents with electric scooters however, it is not currently legal to ride an electric scooter on a road or public place in Jersey. States of Jersey Police

Advice about electric scooters, hover boards and skateboards

The use of electric pedal cycles in Jersey is made legal under Article 2 of the Pedal Cycles (Jersey) Order 1998.
