Request
I would like to know who were the members of the planning committee for 2008 and 2009, particularly those who passed the Dandara, Portelet Bay Development.
Response
The members of the Planning Applications Panel (the precursor to the current Planning Committee) through 2008 and 2009 were as follows –
Deputy Anne Pryke of Trinity, Chair (resigned on 18 May 2009);
Connétable John Gallichan of Trinity (Chair from 18 May 2009);
Connétable Graeme Butcher of St. John
Connétable Peter Hanning of St. Saviour;
Connétable Juliette Gallichan of St. Mary
Deputy Collin Egré of St. Peter;
Deputy Paul Le Claire of St. Helier;
Deputy Jeremy Maçon of St. Saviour; and
Deputy Sean Power of St. Brelade
The permission to construct 45 apartments and seven detached houses at the property known as Portelet Holiday Village was granted by the then Minister for Planning and Environment, Senator Freddie Cohen, on 19 March 2008 at a Ministerial Hearing. The Planning Applications Panel was not involved in this process. The Minister’s consideration and approval (subject to a number of conditions) followed the consideration and approval (subject to conditions) of an earlier scheme by the Planning Applications Sub-Committee on 10 August 2005, of which the members present were Deputy Jerry Dorey (Acting Chairman), Deputy Jacqui Huet and Deputy Mike Taylor.
