Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 22 July 2021.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

Is the Jersey Hospital receiving any private / external money related to Covid-19. In particular, is Ivan Muscat receiving private money, for PCR testing for example.

Response

Yes, Health and Community Services receive a proportion of income which fully offsets associated laboratory costs in relation to PCR testing of private patients for Covid-19. This is in line with existing arrangements for private pathology test charges.

In accordance with the Private Patient Tariff, consultants receive a proportion of the income for private pathology tests always ensuring that the costs to the Department of the test are fully met. This is consistent with the pre-existing process around pathology activity relating to private patients.
