Request
I would like to know Jersey's stance on the ownership and breeding of exotic pets, specifically in regards to the Fennec fox. While I have been able to find information relating to other kinds of animals, this particular species eludes me. Could you please tell me the exact legal stance Jersey holds on the ownership of such animals, and any further laws that might impact a potential breeder?
If at all possible, could you also please tell me where this information is stored so I can know for any future questions I might have.
Response
The Diseases of Animals (Importation of Miscellaneous Goods and Animals) Jersey Order 2012 prohibits the import of foxes into Jersey except under licence.
No licence applications have been received during the last 10 years.
The Dangerous Wild Animals Law is applicable to specified species and requirements.
