Amount of concrete produced and cement imported annually (FOI)

I would like to know:

How much concrete is produced per year?

How much cement is imported per year?

This information is not held by the Government of Jersey therefore Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.

We have assumed the requesters definition of cement reflects that listed under commodity code 2523290000.  See UK Integrated Online Tariff: Look up commodity codes

It is important to note that data is not available for consignments of cement sent directly from the UK.  This is because goods can move freely between Jersey and the UK without the need for commodity codes or customs formalities.

Data for cement arriving from third countries can be provided because commodity codes are made available.  Please note that the years 2018 – 2020 inclusive show only small volumes. This is because at that time Jersey was part of the EU and goods were able to move freely under Protocol 3. The UK (and consequently Jersey) left the EU on the 1 January 2021 and since then commodity codes have been required for all imports. This explains why the 2021 total is so much higher.
