What is the established number of nurses employed across HCS (excluding HCAs) including the staff employed at the Fort Regent vaccination and the testing centres?

How many vacancies are there for OT and Physios in the Hospital and in the community? - How many have resigned?

How many staff are employed on Bank Contracts - Nurses and HCA's (as their only job)?

How many staff are on substantive contracts in HCS and also work on the Bank?

How many Agency staff are employed across HCS (including the Vaccinating and testing areas)?

How many nursing and administrative staff have been signed off sick in 2021, up to 01 November 2021?

A

As at 01 November 2021, Health and Community Services (HCS) has 650 nurses employed across HCS (or 605.9 Full Time Equivalents (FTE)).  A further 40 nurses are currently working in the vaccination centre.

B

As at 01 November 2021 HCS has the following vacancies broken down by budget area.  This includes all vacant roles including some roles which are currently unfunded.  This includes all posts within HCS, including support colleagues (porters and administrative employees) clinical (doctors, nurses, midwives, dentists), managerial roles and allied health professionals.

A budget reconciliation exercise is currently being undertaken to confirm the true level vacancies.

As at 01 November 2021, HCS has 66 Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Physiotherapists employed. This is the equivalent of 49.9 FTE in the Jersey General Hospital.

D

As at 01 November 2021, HCS has 13 vacancies (8.7 FTE) for OT and Physiotherapist staff.

Between 01 January 2021 and 01 November 2021, two OT and Physiotherapist registered professionals have resigned and left the service, five registered professionals have moved within the service. Seven Social Workers have resigned and left the service.

As at 01 November 2021, there were 759 nurses and Health Care Assistants employed on bank contracts as their only job.

G

As at 01 November 2021, HCS has 800 staff on substantive contracts who also work on the bank.

H

As at 01 November 2021, HCS has 102 agency staff who are either employed across HCS or who are working in the Vaccination and Testing areas but are not employed by HCS.

Note: Other staff working in the testing centres are employed by the Government on fixed term contracts, on zero hours Government contracts, or are zero hours staff for whom payroll is administered through a temp agency.

Between 01 January 2021 and 01 November 2021, 513 nursing and administrative staff have been signed off sick. For the purposes of this answer an individual is "signed off" if they have had a period of continuous absence longer than three days.

Between 01 January 2021 and 01 November 2021, 22 management grade civil servants in HCS have been signed off sick. "Management grade civil servants" are defined as being individuals with at least one other person reporting into them within our systems. For the purposes of this answer an individual is "signed off" if they have had a period of continuous absence longer than three days.

Between 01 January 2021 and 01 November 2021, there were nine leavers in total.

As at 01 November 2021, HCS has the following clinical level vacancies at the Jersey General Hospital.  These are covered by locum arrangement.
