Request

How many medical consultants (locum or substantive) had been suspended (or otherwise formally prohibited by Health/ Hospital Management from seeing their patients) for any duration of time (even for a single day) cumulatively in the period from 1st January 2018 until 28th of February 2022?

How many doctors of any grade (locum or substantive) had been suspended (or otherwise formally prohibited by Health/ Hospital Management from seeing their patients) for any duration of time (even for a single day) cumulatively in the period from 1st January 2018 until 28th of February 2022?

Response

Fewer than five substantive medical consultants and/or doctors of any grade, have been formally suspended between 1st January 2018 and 28th February 2022. As the numbers are small, they have been presented as ‘fewer than five’ in order to protect the privacy of individuals and as such, Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

Concerns about an agency or locum doctor are managed via the locum agency and the relevant Responsible Officer and we would support or assist in any investigation.
