The role profile for the Chief Statistician was first submitted to the recruitment panel by the hiring manager, chaired by the Jersey Appointments Commissioner on 28 October 2021. This job profile reflected the standard format used for all senior roles.

Following comments from the selection panel, an updated job description was submitted to the Commissioner on 05 November 2021 and approved. The selection panel comprised: JAC Commissioner (chair of the panel and non-voting member), Chair of the Statistics Users Group, Interim Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ed Sallis (Independent Panel Member) and Director General for Strategic Policy, Planning and Performance. Technical assessment was conducted by Duncan Millard, who has worked at a senior level in Jersey and the UK and as Chief Statistician at the International Energy Agency.
