Suspensions at Bellozanne

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 18 January 2016.

Request

Some months ago several employees at the Bellozanne recycling yard were suspended in regard to the removal of items from the yard.

My questions are:

A.

When were the men suspended?

B.

Are they currently suspended?

C.

What has the suspension cost to date in wages?

D.

Were there any allowances being paid to the men before their suspension? Are these allowances still being paid during their suspension?

E.

Which department are responsible for the suspensions?

F.

What is the current position regarding the resolution of this matter?

Response

A.

In March and April 2015.

B.

No.

C.

The total cost of the suspensions in wages was £43,917.

D.

Depending on their jobs employees may have been eligible for a number of different pay related allowances.

As suspension is a neutral act, a suspended employee would receive their pay as usual during the period of their suspension which would include any contractual pensionable allowances that they normally receive.

E.

Infrastructure formerly TTS.

F.

Disciplinary action followed a thorough internal investigation. All matters are now resolved and the issue is closed.
