Link to Ministerial Decisions
The Minister having further noted that the Government of Jersey’s response to the “List of Issues” had been approved by the CAVA (Children and Vulnerable Adults) Group of Ministers, decided that the Island’s compliance template should be submitted to HM Government accordingly.
The International Treaties Manager to forward a copy of the “List of Issues” in respect of the UNCRC through official channels.
Response
The United Kingdom extended its ratification to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) to Jersey in 2014.
Every state that has ratified the UNCRC is required to report periodically to the Committee on the Rights of the Child on how it is fulfilling its obligations. The United Kingdom will next report on the UNCRC in May 2016. The published report will detail compliance with the Convention, including Jersey’s responses to the List of Issues.
The state party to the Convention is Her Majesty’s Government and not the Government of Jersey. In accordance with Clause 41(1) the information submitted to the UK is qualified exempt until it is published by the United Kingdom Government at the UN Plenary later this year.
