Response

There are currently 55 public patients who meet the criteria for bariatric surgery awaiting their operation, with a waiting time of approximately two years, depending on the assessed priority and service pressures.

As noted in a Freedom of Information response published to www.gov.je in January 2023, surgery is prioritised according to urgency:

Additionally, complications following surgery (most notably following procedures carried out elsewhere) may require urgent attention and revisional surgery to remedy.
